All of the herbs and food procured at Sun Roots Farm are grown with the DEM Pure certification. Each interaction with the plants is done consciously. The farm grows vegetables, herbs, fruit, and fungi alongside cannabis, as well as pollination and native species gardens. The property has been recognized by The National Wildlife Federation as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. All products are lab tested to meet state and county requirements as well as to exemplify the farm’s clean medicine.

Defining Regenerative Farming
Sun Roots Farm received the Regenerative Cannabis Farm Award in 2018 at the Emerald Cup. The farm provides a haven ecosystem of ever-evolving life and ecology by working with and listening to nature with intention and awareness in every thought. We work constantly to restore and give back to the ecosystem, rather than employing depleting and unsustainable farming practices.

Why is regenerative farming important?
The way we grow plants can have the power to help or hurt our environment. Sadly, the direction taken by modern agriculture has been devastating for the planet, destroying our topsoil, diverting and poisoning our water, while growing toxic and nutrient-poor food that leads to a host of health issues.
The societal and environmental costs of bad agricultural practices are staggering and terrifying. Cannabis can be cultivated in a way that is high-impact, resource-excessive, and harmful to people, water, and the land. However, with the right practices cannabis can also be grown in a way that can help heal the environment.
At this moment in human history, we stand at a crossroads: down one path is the potential future of remediation and environmental health, and down the other is our current course of finite resource extraction and environmental destruction. We are also standing at the crossroads of an open and legal world for canna-business. It is our hope that the way we grow, produce, manufacture, and do business in this new world of legal cannabis can be a guiding light to the rest of the world.
How does regenerative farming go "beyond organic"?
Regenerative practices go beyond sustainability in that they heal, improve, and remediate. Organic farming on its own is not necessarily regenerative or sustainable. Quite often there are huge environmental impacts associated with organic products and nutrients. Many organic amendments are unsustainably mined and transported. Other organic products for pest control might seem safe and environmentally friendly, but in reality are detrimental to native diversity, especially our incredibly important pollinating insects like bees.
How do regenerative practices affect the quality of cannabis?
Cannabis is a powerful medicine with many regenerative properties for human health, but if it is grown with harmful products it becomes a toxic shell of its true potential. Products like concentrates and edibles are unforgiving when it comes to safety testing. Using certain chemicals for nutrition, and poisons like fungicides and pesticides at any stage will lead to worthless and potentially dangerous products and medicines. Concentrates concentrate. Flowers that might pass testing can have concentrates that fail. As we move into the open and legal age of cannabis, it becomes increasingly important for farms and businesses to grow and source clean, pure medicine.
